About this course

Portfolio Management is the application of management activities to a collection of programs, projects and/or operations to achieve strategic business objectives. Portfolio Management is not just about ensuring profits but cohesively binding projects within the portfolio, so that they work in tandem to achieve global goals of the organization. As a Portfolio Manager, you would be required to manage various aspects such as time, cost, resources and so on by applying portfolio management best practices. Helping you monitor and manage one or more portfolios seamlessly is the Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) certification from Project Management Institute (PMI), a globally recognized credential that will also give you an edge over your non-certified counterparts.

Prerequisites

The following are the eligibility requirements for the Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) credential –

  • Secondary degree (high school diploma, associate degree or global equivalent)
  • 10,500 hours (7 years) of unique non-overlapping professional portfolio management experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional business experience

                        OR

  • Four-year degree (bachelor’s degree or global equivalent)
  • 6,000 hours (4 years) of unique non-overlapping professional portfolio management experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional business experience

 

  1. All portfolio management experience must have been accrued within the last 15 consecutive years prior to the application submission. There is no time range for the professional business experience.
  2. General experience doesn’t apply to portfolio management experience, but portfolio management experience can count as professional business experience.
  3. Where portfolio management experience cannot overlap, professional business experience can overlap with portfolio management experience.
